Pearl Abyss "Preparation for global release of new film 'Crimson Desert'"

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Regarding the new game "Crimson Desert," Pearl Abyss said, "We aim to complete development in the second half of the year and are currently preparing to unveil it on the global stage."

Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jin-young made the remarks during his first-quarter earnings announcement on the morning of the 11th.

Pearl Abyss announced on the same day that its operating profit in the first quarter of this year was KRW 1.1 billion, down 78.9% from the same period last year.

Sales fell 6.2% year-on-year to 85.8 billion won. Net profit rose 61.9% to 9.4 billion won and turned to surplus compared to the previous quarter.

Black Desert recorded 67.5 billion won and Eve recorded 16.9 billion won in sales by game intellectual property (IP).

Sales by region were the highest in the North American and European markets with 55%, followed by 23% in Korea and 22% in Asia.

By platform, PC platforms accounted for 74% of sales, followed by mobile devices with 20% and consoles with 6%.

Operating expenses totaled 84.7 billion won, down 1.8% from the same period last year and 14.9% from the previous quarter.

Among them, labor costs amounted to 44.3 billion won, accounting for more than half, or 51.6 percent. It was followed by 22.3% of payment fees, 10.8% of other expenses, 7.4% of depreciation costs and 6.6% of advertising promotion costs.

Pearl Abyss had 1,355 employees in the first quarter, down 6.7% and 8.8%, respectively, from the previous quarter and the first quarter of last year.
