[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Boston Dynamics, the robotics unit of Hyundai Motor Group, has seen its valuation rise more than twentyfold since its acquisition in 2021, reflecting growing momentum in advanced robotics.
According to Hyundai Glovis, its additional investment last year implies a company valuation of around KRW 30 trillion, up sharply from about KRW 1.25 trillion at the time of acquisition. The surge has been driven in part by Hyundai’s unveiling of its humanoid robot “Atlas” at CES 2026, with plans to deploy the robot in U.S. EV production facilities by 2028.
Market estimates suggest the company’s valuation could reach as high as KRW 100 trillion, with an IPO expected as early as 2027.
Separately, Boston Dynamics has joined the U.S.-based Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP)’s newly launched “National Security Commission on Advanced Manufacturing Robotics,” alongside major players such as Nvidia, AMD, and General Motors.
The move highlights Boston Dynamics’ growing role not only in commercial robotics but also in shaping next-generation technology and national security strategy.
