[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Negotiations for the sale of HMM (formerly Hyundai Merchant Marine), the nation's largest container carrier, have finally broken down.

The Korea Development Bank and the Korea Maritime Promotion Agency said on the 7th that they held negotiations with the Harim-JKL Partners consortium, the preferred bidder for the sale of the HMM, but negotiations finally broke down.

The sale side said, "We worked faithfully in mutual trust during the seven-week negotiations, but the negotiations finally broke down due to differences on some points."

Negotiations between the two sides were originally due on the 23rd of last month, but were extended once to the 6th of this month as negotiations broke down.
