[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The lodging reservation platform Booking.com has been fined 195 million KRW by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) for falsely advertising a free airport taxi service when booking specific accommodations above a certain price on its PC website.

On October 27, the FTC announced that Booking.com violated the Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising, resulting in the imposition of a correction order and the fine.

Booking.com, based in the Netherlands, is an online travel agency (OTA) that connects users with service providers for accommodations, flights, and rental cars worldwide. It is a subsidiary of Booking Holdings and was the top OTA globally based on revenue last year.
