[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, June 1, 2026 — Shares of South Korea’s LG Group affiliates surged sharply following reports that Jensen Huang, chief executive of NVIDIA, will visit Korea in June to discuss artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation.
According to industry sources, Huang is expected to visit Korea after attending Computex 2026, scheduled for June 1–4 in Taiwan.
Investor sentiment surged ahead of the anticipated visit. On May 29, LG Electronics shares hit the daily upper limit, closing at KRW 293,000, marking a record high on an adjusted basis. LG Innotek also jumped 28.57% to KRW 1.458 million, after reaching an intraday record high of KRW 1.474 million.
Other affiliates followed suit, with LG CNS rising to its upper limit, while LG Corp, LG Display, and LG Uplus also posted strong gains.
Huang is expected to meet Koo Kwang-mo during his visit to discuss expanding cooperation in so-called “physical AI,” as well as broader collaboration across LG affiliates, including LG AI Research, LG Innotek, and LG Uplus.
He is also expected to explore AI partnerships with major Korean technology firms, including Naver.
The anticipated meetings have fueled investor expectations for deeper collaboration between NVIDIA and Korean companies in next-generation AI platforms and hardware ecosystems.
Market participants also pointed to Huang’s previous visit in October, when he held high-profile meetings with Lee Jae-yong and Chung Euisun, which had similarly driven sharp gains in related stocks.
Analysts said the current rally reflects preemptive pricing-in of potential collaboration in AI platforms and physical AI technologies, as well as lingering positive sentiment from past engagements.
