[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Electronics announced on the 19th that it has recently signed a business agreement with ‘ChargePoint,’ the largest charging operator (CPO) in North America, to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging business.

Companies related to EV charging are broadly divided into charger manufacturers and CPOs that install and manage charging networks using supplied chargers. ChargePoint is the largest CPO in North America, operating EV charging stations across the United States and Canada. They also conduct business in 16 European countries and India.

With this agreement, LG Electronics has added ChargePoint, which possesses extensive charging infrastructure, to its list of clients beyond its existing CPO customers. LG Electronics produces 11kW level 2 chargers and other products at its EV charger manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, Texas.

LG Electronics is expanding its EV charger business as one of its new growth drivers. The company expects that this agreement will enhance its competitiveness in winning contracts for public sector charging infrastructure expansion projects in the United States.
