[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] LG CNS announced on March 10 that it has made a strategic investment in U.S. robotics company Dexmate to strengthen its humanoid robot hardware capabilities for industrial applications. The investment was made through LG Technology Ventures, LG Group’s corporate venture capital arm.
Based in Silicon Valley, Dexmate is recognized for the quality and performance of its robots, with its products widely used as research standards by global robotics developers.
The company’s humanoid robot is designed for industrial environments. Instead of legs, it uses wheels for mobility, enabling stable long-duration operations. The robot features high-speed dual arms, visual sensors in its head to recognize surroundings, and the ability to perform precise two-handed tasks while lifting up to 15 kilograms. It can operate for more than 20 hours on a single charge, making it suitable for logistics centers and manufacturing sites.
With the investment, LG CNS is expanding its robotics portfolio to include wheel-type humanoids, alongside bipedal humanoids and quadruped robots.
The company plans to build a full-stack robotics transformation (RX) service that integrates robot hardware, robot foundation models (RFM), and robot training platforms.
“Beyond technology validation, we aim to demonstrate humanoid robot models that can be immediately deployed in real industrial environments and lead the era of physical AI,” said Lee Jun-ho, executive vice president of LG CNS’s Smart Logistics and City Business Division.
