[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Top South Korean business leaders, including Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chung Euisun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, departed on February 19 to join President Lee Jae-myung’s economic delegation to India and Vietnam.
Lee arrived at the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center (SGBAC) at around 1:41 p.m. and proceeded to departure without commenting to reporters. Chung departed earlier at around 1:11 p.m., while Koo arrived at the airport at approximately 11 a.m. before boarding a flight to India.
Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group and head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is expected to join the delegation during the Vietnam leg, likely departing on February 20 or 21. Park Jie-won is also expected to participate in the Vietnam schedule.
The delegation, comprising around 200 business leaders, is organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Vietnam and the Korea Enterprises Federation for India.
Lee and Koo are expected to attend the full itinerary through February 24. Samsung Electronics operates major manufacturing plants and R&D centers in both countries and is expanding initiatives such as the Samsung Innovation Campus. LG Electronics also maintains production bases in the region and listed its Indian subsidiary on the local stock market last year.
Chung is expected to focus on the India visit, where Hyundai Motor Group is strengthening its presence. India, with a population of 1.4 billion and annual economic growth of around 7%, is considered a key strategic market.
Meanwhile, SK Group is advancing energy projects in Vietnam, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and gas-fired power plants.
