[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Naver is taking steps to establish a regional headquarters, tentatively named NAVER Arabia, in Saudi Arabia by the end of this year.
On September 23, Naver announced its plans to set up this headquarters as part of its strategy to expand its global business footprint. The company will participate in Saudi Arabia's Regional HQ (RHQ) program, collaborating on large-scale national projects in the advanced technology sector.
Additionally, Naver is working on establishing joint ventures (JVs) with local partners in various business units in Saudi Arabia. The company plans to form JVs with organizations like the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MOMAH) and the National Housing Company (NHC) as part of its involvement in developing a digital twin platform.
Having recently commenced cooperation with Saudi Arabia on the development of a "Sovereign AI" (an AI based on a large language model reflecting the nation's culture), Naver aims to broaden its B2B operations in the Middle East based on its technological capabilities.
