[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Professors at Seoul National University College of Medicine have decided to collectively go on strike. Starting from the 17th, Seoul National University Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Hospital, and Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center will suspend all outpatient services and regular surgeries, excluding emergency rooms and intensive care units.

The Emergency Response Committee of the Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Hospital Faculty Association announced the results of a survey conducted among all 1,475 professors on the afternoon of the 6th regarding the collective strike.

According to the survey conducted from the 3rd to the 6th, 63.4% of the 939 respondents agreed to "take strong action, including going on strike."

In a second survey asking about the manner of the strike, 68.4% of the 750 respondents agreed to a "complete strike excluding essential departments such as the emergency room and intensive care unit." The agreement rate was even higher at 77.5% when excluding professors who do not see patients at the hospital.

As a result, professors at Seoul National University Hospital and other affiliated hospitals will not conduct outpatient services or regular surgeries from the 17th, except for the operation of intensive care units and emergency rooms. However, surgeries necessary due to patient emergencies will still be performed.
