[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] NCSoft is expected to report a quarterly loss for the first time in 11 years since the second quarter of 2013.

According to the consensus from FnGuide on the 14th, NCSoft's sales for the second quarter of this year are projected to be 387.8 billion KRW, a 12% decrease compared to the same period last year, with an operating loss of 1 billion KRW, marking a return to deficits.

The primary reason for the poor performance is that recently released new titles, such as "Throne and Liberty (TL)" and "Battle Crush," have not achieved significant success.

Previously, "Battle Crush" became embroiled in political issues shortly after its release because it included Hong Kong and Taiwan as selectable countries at the start of the game. Some Chinese gaming influencers criticized the game on the global distribution platform Steam even before its official release in China.

NCSoft is looking forward to the global release of TL in September and the Chinese release of "Blade & Soul 2" in the second half of this year. However, securities analysts predict that it will be difficult to exceed the annual sales expectations. Even "Lineage M," which has consistently held the top spot in domestic sales, is now being threatened by Chinese games.
