[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Naver will discontinue its “related search terms” feature as part of a broader transition toward AI-powered search services.
According to industry sources on April 7, Naver announced via its official search blog that the feature—introduced in 2007 to suggest related keywords at the top of search results—will be terminated after April 30.
The move reflects Naver’s strategy to move away from traditional keyword-based search and toward AI-driven experiences that better understand user intent and context. The company has been enhancing its AI search capabilities, including the introduction of “AI Briefing,” which provides summarized answers at the top of search results.
Naver stated that the decision aligns with growing user expectations shaped by large language model (LLM)-based services such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
As part of its restructuring efforts, Naver is also streamlining its services. Its conversational AI search service, Clova X, based on its proprietary LLM, is scheduled to be discontinued on April 9.
The company said it will continue to strengthen the integration of AI and search to deliver more reliable and enriched user experiences.
