[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] KCC Glass announced on October 6 that it had completed its Batang factory, a glass production plant under its Indonesian subsidiary, and held a furnace ignition ceremony on October 3 (local time).
The Batang factory, located in the Batang Industrial Park in Central Java, spans 460,000 square meters. It is a large-scale facility with an annual production capacity of 440,000 tons of flat glass. The plant can produce up to 1,200 tons of flat glass per day—enough to cover the entire exterior of the 123-story Lotte World Tower in Seoul.
KCC Glass began construction in May 2021, investing KRW 300 billion in the project. This marks the first time a Korean glass manufacturer has established a production base overseas.
The ignition ceremony, held at the Indonesian plant, was attended by KCC Glass Chairman Chung Mong-ik, Indonesia's Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, as well as around 200 KCC Glass employees and Indonesian government officials.
