[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] According to industry sources on the 25th, a Korean Air flight from London to Incheon was delayed by nearly 23 hours due to the need for aircraft part replacement.

The incident occurred on the 23rd at 7:55 PM local time when flight KE908, a B747-8I aircraft, encountered a mechanical issue during pre-flight preparations at Heathrow Airport. A maintenance check revealed that parts related to the engine system, including sensors, needed to be replaced. Since the required parts were not immediately available, they were sourced from elsewhere, leading to a significant delay.

During this time, the 318 passengers were provided with hotel accommodations and meals. The flight eventually departed at 7:15 PM on the 24th and arrived in Incheon at 3:46 PM on the 25th, resulting in a delay of approximately 23 hours and 30 minutes. This incident followed another delay on the same route on the 18th, when flight KE908 was delayed by over 21 hours due to a collision with a catering truck while parked at Heathrow Airport.

In a separate incident on the 24th (KST), a Jin Air flight from Busan to Clark, Philippines, was delayed by about 10 hours and 30 minutes. Flight LJ065, scheduled to depart from Gimhae International Airport at 10:10 PM, was grounded during pre-flight preparations due to a mechanical issue. As the maintenance work extended into the airport's curfew period (from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM), the flight could not depart on the 24th. The 123 passengers were accommodated at a nearby hotel, and the flight eventually took off from Gimhae International Airport the following morning.
