[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Logistics company LX Pantos has opened a large railway terminal in Hungary, Europe's largest battery production hub. It plans to further increase its competitiveness in the global logistics market.
Located 65 kilometers southwest of Budapest, Hungary, the LX Pantos Terminal has an area of about 36,000 square meters, the size of five soccer fields, and two railway tracks. The terminal can hold 1450TEU (1TEU can hold one 20-foot container) cargo at the same time. Also, cargo can be processed by block train three times a day.
The terminal site is owned by RCG, a company under the Austrian Railway Authority. As a result, LX Pantos has secured a 10-year terminal pass from the Austrian Railway Authority and a 10-year extension.
LX Pantos plans to raise cargo handling efficiency to the next level through the Tata terminal and expand its European logistics business by developing various railway products.
Hungary is the world's fourth-largest battery producer after China, Poland and the United States. As domestic and foreign companies continue to invest in facilities around Budapest, it is emerging as the center of the electric vehicle and battery industry in Europe. Currently, Samsung SDI, SK On and Ecopro are operating battery production corporations or building businesses in Hungary.
