[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Choi Jin-guk, CEO of Taeyoung Engineering & Construction, issued an official apology on the 26th after a fatal accident occurred at the construction site of the Jeonju National Road Bypass (Yongjin–Uoa 2 section). Choi stated that the company will “conduct a comprehensive review of all safety management systems and equipment and implement thorough preventive measures, including addressing structural issues, once the cause of the accident is fully identified.”

In a statement released under his name, Choi said, “We take full responsibility for this tragic incident and extend our deepest apologies to the deceased and their bereaved family.”

He added, “Taeyoung E&C is working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident. We will fundamentally strengthen our safety standards and systems.”

Choi also emphasized, “We take this tragedy as a grave warning, and we will steadfastly uphold the principle that nothing takes precedence over safety at all of our sites. We will provide full support to ensure that the bereaved family does not face any difficulties during the follow-up procedures.”

Earlier that day, a worker died from electrocution while removing power lines at the construction site of the National Road Bypass (Yongjin–Uoa 2 section) in Jeonju. Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are currently investigating the scene, and Taeyoung E&C is preparing additional measures to prevent recurrence.
