[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Amid growing consumer demand for transparency following an electric vehicle fire in Incheon, Hyundai has become the first domestic automaker to publicly disclose the battery manufacturers for its electric vehicles (EVs).

On August 10, the automotive industry reported that Hyundai had revealed the battery suppliers for 13 EV models—10 Hyundai vehicles and 3 Genesis models—on its official website.

The Hyundai models included in the disclosure are the discontinued Ioniq, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kona Electric, ST1, Casper Electric, and Porter EV. The Kona Electric is equipped with batteries from China’s CATL, the world’s leading battery manufacturer, while the other nine models feature batteries from South Korea's LG Energy Solution or SK On.

For Genesis, the battery manufacturers for the GV60, GV70, and G80 Electrified models were also revealed, with all three using SK On batteries.

Hyundai stated that this proactive move was in response to a surge in inquiries about battery manufacturers following the recent Mercedes-Benz EV fire incident.

Kia is also expected to soon disclose its EV battery information on its website.
