[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] With NCsoft launching its recommended resignation due to poor performance, NCsoft's labor union asked co-chairmans Kim Taek-jin and Park Byung-moo to "stop the recommended resignation right now."
According to the IT industry on the 25th, NC's labor union publicly protested the management's recommendation resignation process through a company-wide e-mail later in the day.
NC's labor union criticized, "(The management) consistently says it is difficult due to market changes and the industry as a whole, but there is no reflection anywhere." "The company is putting employees on the operating table, but we have not heard any explanation," he said. "Communication with employees comes first."
NC has recently notified its employees of their recommended resignation, focusing on non-development and support departments. While the size of the restructuring is unknown, the number of recommended employees reported by NC's labor union is at least dozens. NC insiders predict that the number of recommended resignations will reach three digits.
The total number of NC employees stood at 5,023 as of the end of December last year based on business reports. By job group, R&D jobs related to game development accounted for the largest number with 3,591, followed by 1,107 business and management managers and 325 IT and platform jobs.
The recommended resignation is known to be due to poor management performance. NC suffered a slump in its performance last year, with its sales plunging 30.8% year-on-year and operating profit plunging 75.4%.
