[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] On the 17th, actor Lee Jung Jae appeared on the YouTube channel 'Now with Baek Ji Yeon' and revealed that "Squid Game" Season 2 is in its final stages of filming and will be released in winter. He also expressed confidence, saying, "I dare to say that it's even more fun than Season 1."

"Squid Game" is a Netflix series that tells the story of people who participate in a mysterious survival game with a prize of 456 billion won, risking their lives to become the final winner. Season 1, released in 2021, sparked a global craze for "Squid Game" and led the syndrome of K-content.

Season 2 of "Squid Game" opens the era of a production cost of 100 billion won, the first in Korean dramas. Lee Jung Jae, starring in the lead role, receives a staggering appearance fee of $1 million per episode (approximately 13 billion won), the highest ever for a Korean actor. Planned as a 13-episode series up to Season 3, Lee Jung Jae's expected appearance fee amounts to $13 million (approximately 171.34 billion won).

It has been reported that Netflix has earned around 1 trillion won in economic profits through "Squid Game." If Season 2 achieves the same success as its predecessor, Netflix's investment of 100 billion won would be well worth it.

Netflix, in particular, has high expectations for Korean content.
