[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics unveiled a new generation of foldables and wearables at its Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in New York on July 9 (local time), introducing the ultra-slim, large-screen Galaxy Z Fold7, the pocket-sized AI-powered Galaxy Z Flip7, and the health-optimized Galaxy Watch8 series. The company showcased its vision of delivering a premium, AI-driven mobile experience by combining cutting-edge hardware with advanced artificial intelligence.
All three new devices are powered by the latest version of Galaxy AI, integrated with Google Gemini, enhancing productivity, personalization, and seamless user interaction. “We are ushering in a new era where Samsung’s unique hardware innovation meets AI excellence—harmonizing design, engineering, and immersive experiences,” said TM Roh, EVP and Head of Samsung’s MX Business.
In addition to expanded AI capabilities, Samsung strengthened device security. The new products ship with the official version of One UI 8, which blocks unauthorized inter-app data access and introduces KEEP, a new on-device security feature that protects AI learning data. Post-Quantum Cryptography, designed to withstand quantum computer attacks, now extends protection to public Wi-Fi networks.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 features a larger 4.1-inch cover display, enabling users to check messages, receive calls, play music, and take selfies—all without opening the phone. Samsung’s generative AI is deeply integrated into the FlexWindow, responding to voice prompts such as “When does my flight depart?” or “Find a nearby café,” and providing intelligent context-aware suggestions via Gemini Live.
The selfie experience has also evolved. Users can take photos while viewing themselves on the cover screen or use FlexCam at various angles by partially folding the phone. New additions include real-time filter previews and a one-finger zoom control feature.
One UI 8 on the Flip7 is designed to handle personalized AI tasks like voice recognition and on-screen analysis entirely on-device. Personal data is stored in encrypted, app-isolated spaces using KEEP, and additional features such as Samsung Account-based service access restrictions and security alerts help enhance user privacy.
A larger 4,300mAh battery extends usage time, and for the first time, Samsung DeX is supported on the Flip7. When connected to an external monitor or keyboard, users can carry out tasks such as document editing and presentations—delivering a PC-like experience from a single device.
