[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (pictured) announced that the company will be supplied with High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) from Samsung Electronics. He dismissed recent reports suggesting that Samsung had failed HBM quality tests, stating, "They have never failed."

During a press conference held at a hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, on the afternoon of the 4th, Huang stated, "Not only SK Hynix but also Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology will supply us with memory."

Huang further explained, "All three memory suppliers will provide us with HBM, and NVIDIA is working to ensure that they meet the qualifications and integrate into our manufacturing systems as quickly as possible."

HBM is a product that significantly enhances data processing performance and speed by stacking multiple DRAMs vertically. Due to the enormous amounts of data that need to be processed for AI computation tasks, NVIDIA uses HBM in its graphics processing units (GPUs) to produce AI accelerator chips.

Until now, SK Hynix has been the almost exclusive supplier of HBM to NVIDIA. The latest version, the 5th generation HBM3E, is also being partially supplied by Micron in the United States.

Huang's comments addressed last month's foreign media reports that Samsung Electronics had failed NVIDIA's HBM quality tests. He added, "Samsung Electronics has never failed any qualification tests so far, but more engineering work is needed for Samsung's HBM products."
