[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, November 12, 2025 — Dutch semiconductor equipment giant ASML, the world’s only producer of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, has officially opened its new ₩240 billion (US$180 million) Hwaseong Campus in Dongtan, Gyeonggi Province.

Spanning 16,000 square meters, the new facility will serve as ASML’s key hub in Asia and a cornerstone for stabilizing Korea’s semiconductor supply chain.

The inauguration ceremony, held earlier today in Songdong, Hwaseong, was attended by ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet, Kang Kam-chan, Director General for Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), the Dutch Ambassador to Korea, and senior executives from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Following the ceremony, CEO Fouquet was scheduled to meet Samsung DS Division chief Jeon Young-hyun to discuss future cooperation. On the previous day, he had met SK Hynix CEO Kwak No-jung.

The Hwaseong Campus combines an EUV/DUV equipment refurbishment center and a training center — allowing ASML to provide technical education, maintenance, and equipment support from a single site. The company expects the integrated hub to reduce delivery times, improve service efficiency, and bolster customer support for clients across Asia.

ASML’s EUV technology is vital for ultra-fine semiconductor manufacturing, enabling chipmakers to etch circuits at the nanometer scale for advanced DRAM and system-on-chip production — key components for AI-optimized high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.

With Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and TSMC all relying on its equipment, ASML maintains an unrivaled position in the global semiconductor ecosystem. The company’s upcoming High-NA EUV platform is expected to define the next generation of sub-2-nanometer process technology.
