[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics has postponed the full-scale mass production of Taylor's new semiconductor plant in the U.S. to two years from now. According to the original plan, mass production should begin within next year.

According to industry sources on the 25th, Choi Si-young, president of the foundry business at Samsung Electronics, recently announced the timing of mass production of the Taylor plant during his keynote speech at 'IEDM 2023' in the United States. "The first wafer will be released at the Taylor plant within the second half of next year and mass production will begin in 2025," he said.

Samsung Electronics aimed to mass-produce the Taylor plant in the second half of 2024 from the time it announced its investment in the plant in 2021. The company still states on its official website that mass production of the Taylor plant (mass production) will be in 2024.

Samsung Electronics' Taylor plant is a semiconductor fab that Samsung Electronics has invested $17 billion (about 22 trillion won) in Texas since two years ago. The length of the plant alone is 1km, and there is a site that can build 10 more fabs after the completion of the first plant. A 4nm system semiconductor production line will be placed on the first line of the plant. High-tech chip design companies in the United States are expected to take advantage of this fab
