[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] At approximately 11:20 a.m. on April 4, shortly after South Korea’s Constitutional Court announced the removal of President Yoon Suk-yeol, users began experiencing delays and connection issues on KakaoTalk.

When attempting to log into the PC version of KakaoTalk, users were met with an error message stating, “Unable to complete the requested action. This is a temporary issue — please try again later.” Similar service disruptions were also reported on the mobile version of the app.

The spike in traffic is believed to be linked to the live reading of the impeachment verdict by Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae, which drew immense public attention and real-time online activity.

Kakao had stated on April 3 that it would strengthen monitoring of traffic fluctuations and expand server infrastructure to respond to emergency situations, including implementing technical countermeasures.

Earlier that morning, at 11 a.m., the Constitutional Court convened a plenary session and unanimously upheld the National Assembly’s motion to impeach President Yoon, marking a historic moment in South Korean constitutional history.
