[Alpha Biz= Kim Young Taek] JEJU, South Korea — November 10, 2025 — A 33-year-old delivery driver working for Coupang was killed in an early-morning traffic accident while operating a delivery vehicle in Jeju City, authorities confirmed on Monday.
According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters and Jeju Eastern Police Station, the accident occurred at approximately 2:09 a.m. in Ora 2-dong, when the worker’s one-ton truck collided with a utility pole. Emergency crews extracted the driver from the vehicle using hydraulic equipment, but he was pronounced dead at 3:10 a.m. from severe injuries.
The victim was a special employment delivery worker assigned to Coupang’s Jeju 1 Delivery Center, responsible for overnight delivery operations. Investigators believe he was either completing or returning from a delivery route at the time of the crash.
Colleagues said he had recently returned to work after his father’s funeral and may have been fatigued. Coupang began offering dawn delivery services in the Jeju region earlier this year, in February.
