Coupang Reports Data Exposure Incident Affecting 4,500 Customers

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Coupang has reported a data exposure incident in which the personal information of approximately 4,500 customers was accessed without authorization.


In a notice sent to customers on the 20th, Coupang stated, “On November 18, we confirmed that certain customer information was viewed by an unauthorized party. The data accessed includes customer names, email addresses, saved delivery addresses, and details of the five most recent orders.”


The company added that it immediately blocked the access route used by the third party once the activity was detected, and stated that no misuse of the viewed information has been identified to date.


Coupang has formally reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC).
