[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Since the enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, the investigation into SeAH Besteel, a special steel manufacturer, has intensified following the deaths of five workers.

On the 8th, the Criminal Department 1 of the Gunsan Branch of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office requested a court-issued arrest warrant for Kim Cheol-hee, the CEO of SeAH Besteel, on charges of violating the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

At the SeAH Besteel Gunsan Plant, four major accidents occurred after the enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act in January 2022, resulting in the deaths of five workers.

In May 2022, a worker was fatally struck by a forklift, and in September of the same year, another worker died after being caught between steel products and a truck loading compartment.

Additionally, in March of last year, two workers cleaning a combustion tower suffered burns from high-temperature combustion material and died while undergoing treatment. Last month, an employee of a subcontractor was crushed to death by piping.
