[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The collective bargaining negotiations between Kakao's union and management have collapsed. On the 4th, the Kakao branch of the National Chemical Fiber Food Industry Labor Union announced that it had sent an official notice of the breakdown to the management on August 29th and posted a declaration of the breakdown on the company's internal board. Following this, the union filed for mediation with the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Commission on September 3rd.

In its declaration, the union criticized the management for showing a dual stance by refusing the union's demands for reform, even as it has been pushing for major changes to overcome the management crisis for over a year. The union accused the company of falsely portraying some reform tasks as completed and dismissing the union's demands as non-negotiable.

The union stated, "The long-awaited reform efforts have instead resulted in the threat of restructuring and potential sell-offs," adding, "If the company was concerned about the employees (referred to as 'crew') worrying about restructuring, it should have at least established a consultation process related to job security, rather than dismissing it as a matter of management rights that cannot be discussed."
