[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Hanwha Investment & Securities announced on the 7th that it has acquired a stake in Edinburgh Airport, Scotland.
Edinburgh Airport is jointly owned by global infrastructure investment firm Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which holds a 49.99% stake, and airport operator Vinci Airports, which owns 50.01%.
Hanwha Investment & Securities has acquired approximately 5.4% (about 126 billion KRW) of GIP's stake and is currently proposing joint investments through a fund of funds managed by Platform Partners Asset Management to domestic institutional investors.
According to Hanwha Investment & Securities, airport investments are considered prime infrastructure assets that can provide long-term dividend income and capital gains.
Notably, Edinburgh Airport is a major airport in Scotland, serving over 150 destinations and operating 220 flight routes, primarily focusing on long-haul connections to Europe and North America.
