[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] For the first time since its establishment, LG HelloVision is offering a voluntary retirement program.

According to the cable TV industry on the 6th, LG HelloVision will accept applications for voluntary retirement from employees aged 50 or older or those with over 10 years of service from today until the 18th. The specific number of retirements has not been disclosed.

Eligible employees will receive severance pay equivalent to two years of their annual salary. However, for those under the wage peak system, the severance pay will be 50% of their remaining salary until retirement. An additional retirement bonus will be set at 11.8% of their 2024 annual salary.

With the cable TV market facing increasing challenges, LG HelloVision, one of the industry leaders, appears to be taking steps to optimize its workforce. According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, the number of cable TV subscribers dropped by 89,781 lines to 12,541,500 in the second half of last year, reflecting the industry’s ongoing difficulties.
