[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SK ecoplant and Kyeryong Construction announced on the 26th that the Seoul Administrative Court has granted their request for an injunction to suspend the enforcement of a government-imposed business suspension order related to a collapse incident at a road construction site in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.
With the injunction approved, the companies confirmed that the effectiveness of the suspension order will be halted until 30 days after the ruling in the main administrative litigation, meaning their business operations will continue without disruption.
The case stems from an accident on April 30 last year at the construction site of the Seohaean Bypass Road in Wolgot-dong, Siheung, where a bridge girder under installation collapsed. The incident resulted in one worker in his 50s being killed, while five workers and one citizen were injured.
Following an investigation, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issued a six-month business suspension, effective December 1, against the two construction firms as the site’s contractors.
SK ecoplant and Kyeryong Construction stated they will continue to contest the penalties through a formal administrative cancellation lawsuit.
