[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyosung Chairman Cho Hyun-joon Meets with Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Announces Additional 5 Trillion Won Investment

On October 14 (local time), Hyosung Chairman Cho Hyun-joon met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi to discuss business cooperation plans.

According to Hyosung, the meeting was attended by Cho Hyun-joon, Vice Chairman Lee Sang-woon, and other Hyosung executives, along with high-ranking officials from the Vietnamese government, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

During the meeting, Chairman Cho requested support and interest in Hyosung's ongoing investments in Vietnam, including its core business operations, as well as future projects in eco-friendly advanced materials such as bio-BDO (butanediol), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and data centers.

Chairman Cho emphasized, “Since Hyosung’s first entry into Vietnam in 2007, the company has grown into a business generating annual sales of $3.7 billion (approximately 5 trillion won) in Vietnam. As Prime Minister Pham mentioned during his visit to Korea, I agree that cooperation in various fields such as securing supply chains, addressing climate change, and transitioning to a digital economy is essential for the next 30 years. Hyosung seeks to contribute to Vietnam’s economic development by investing more than our current investment to secure a future of 100 years in Vietnam.”

Since its first entry in 2007, Hyosung has invested $4 billion across Vietnam in key sectors such as spandex, heavy electrical equipment, chemicals, and IT, as well as future business areas like bio-BDO and data centers.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his support, saying, "We will actively support Hyosung’s ongoing investments and future business endeavors."
