[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Costco's labor union, which is at odds with the management over the signing of a collective agreement, will launch its second strike on the 27th.

According to the Costco union on the 1st, the union will go on a second strike on the 27th of this month. The union went on its first strike for two days on February 3 and 4. "Currently, talks with the management continue to be in place," said Lee Mi-hyun, head of Costco's labor union. "The 28th is a mandatory holiday, so we plan to go on a strike only on the 27th."

Costco's labor and management have been at odds over the signing of a collective agreement for more than three years. Costco's labor union was established in August 2020 and began negotiations with the company for collective bargaining in the same year. However, in more than a year until September of the following year, 12 main negotiations failed to reach a conclusion. Since then, talks have been suspended for two years due to COVID-19, but resumed in September of the same year after a worker in his 20s died at Costco's Hanam branch in June last year. Since then, eight major competitions have been held, but they have yet to narrow their positions.
