[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Seo Young-jae (57), former executive director of LG Electronics, has been appointed as the new CEO of DL E&C.

DL E&C announced on the 3rd that it recommended nominee Seo as its new in-house director. Suh will be appointed as CEO after an extraordinary shareholders' meeting to appoint a director on the 10th of next month.

Seo joined LG Electronics in 1991 after graduating from Kyungpook National University's Department of Electronics Engineering and served as the head of TV, AV and IT business. He has been in charge of planning, finance, and management, and has also been called 'Strategic Planning Specialist' and served as the head of LG Electronics Business Incubation (BI) Center. It is said that it played a key role in finding and nurturing new business tasks such as charging electric vehicles (EV), healthcare, and home fitness and settling them in the market.

Analysts say that DL E&C's decision to appoint Suh as its new CEO includes its intention to leave DL E&C's key to seek new business opportunities. Nominee Seo is expected to focus on discovering new growth engines such as DL E&C's carbon dioxide collection, storage and utilization (CCUS), small module reactors (SMR), hydrogen and ammonia, and expanding new businesses.
