[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver has started developing artificial intelligence (AI) chip 'Mach-2' with Samsung Electronics. It has entered the early stage of securing the next-generation AI chip beyond the 'Mach-1' that is being made and applied together.
According to the industry on the 7th, Naver has begun developing next-generation AI chip Mach-2 with Samsung Electronics. The two companies have begun discussing key points of development. Naver will design core SW and Samsung Electronics will design and produce chips.
Performance is expected to be further enhanced. It focuses on utilizing a large language model (LLM) that requires more and more operations.
Naver is jointly developing AI inference chip Mach-1 with Samsung Electronics and will verify performance within the year. Apart from this, it has also quickly started developing next-generation chips.
Naver expects to have a significant effect on reducing AI service operating costs by jointly creating a Samsung AI semiconductor ecosystem. If Naver jointly develops AI semiconductor chips and optimizes them for AI services, AI can be operated effectively.
