[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Beijing Hyundai, Hyundai Motor's joint venture in China, has announced a recall of 560,000 vehicles due to a potential fire risk in the engine room. According to reports from China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 6th, Beijing Hyundai submitted a recall plan to China's State Administration for Market Regulation, with the recall set to begin on the 30th of this month.

The recall involves the 2013 Santa Fe, with 139,040 units produced between November 29, 2012, and October 31, 2014, and the 2010-2013 ix35, with 420,309 units produced between March 28, 2010, and August 14, 2014.

The issue stems from the potential for internal short-circuiting in the Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (HECU), which could lead to engine room fires in extreme cases.

The vehicles affected by the recall will have their HECU fuses replaced to address the risk. If any issues occur again with the fuse melting due to internal short circuits, the company will replace the parts free of charge.
