[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] A Tesla driver died in a recent accident in Anseong, with authorities suspecting that the victim, a man in his 30s, was unable to escape the vehicle after the crash. The driver was found in the back seat, leading investigators to believe that he failed to evacuate in time.

The Anseong police announced on the 11th that they plan to close the case due to the death of the driver, identified as Mr. A. However, investigations into the exact cause of his death will continue. It is suspected that after the solo crash, a fire started in the lower front part of the vehicle, prompting Mr. A to move to the back seat in an attempt to escape, but he was unable to do so.

Authorities are focusing on the vehicle's locking system, as it is believed Mr. A may have repeatedly tried and failed to open the doors from the back seat. At the time of the accident, Mr. A was not driving under the influence or without a license, and firefighters responded quickly to extinguish the flames after the accident was reported.

Initial witness statements raised concerns about the possibility of additional victims, but police investigations confirmed that Mr. A was the sole casualty. A police official stated that while the case will be closed due to the driver’s death, the investigation into the crash and the cause of the fire will continue. The National Forensic Service has been asked to analyze the vehicle’s locking system to determine whether it played a role in the driver’s inability to escape.

The crash occurred on the evening of October 10th, when the Tesla, driven by Mr. A, collided with a barrier on a road in Daedeok-myeon, Anseong, resulting in a fire that led to his death.
