Fair Trade Commission launches investigation on the terms and conditions of infringement of personal information of Ali and Temu

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has initiated an investigation into concerns regarding the potential infringement and leakage of personal information of domestic consumers by Chinese e-commerce companies.

According to industry sources on the 7th, the FTC has begun an investigation into Alibaba Group and Tencent in relation to unfair terms and conditions.

The focus of the investigation reportedly centers on preventing infringement and overseas leakage of consumer personal information. The FTC plans to scrutinize the terms and conditions of Alibaba and Tencent to see if there are any unfair terms that excessively collect or utilize consumer personal information.

If such unfair terms are found, the FTC plans to request voluntary corrections from Alibaba and Tencent.
