[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The domestically produced K2 tank will be exported to Peru, marking its first sale to a South American country. In addition to the tank deal, South Korea and Peru have also agreed to collaborate on the joint development of fighter jet parts and submarines.
According to the defense industry, on the 16th (local time), during President Yoon Suk-yeol's visit to Lima, Peru, Hyundai Rotem signed a comprehensive agreement with the Peruvian Army regarding the K2 tank and other ground weapons.
Additionally, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Peru's state-owned aviation company SEMAN for the local joint production of KF-21 components. On the same day, HD Hyundai signed an MOU with the state-owned SIMA shipyard for the joint development of submarines, aimed at advancing Peru's industrial capabilities.
