[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The South Korean government will launch an additional special audit targeting NongHyup-related organizations, including the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NongHyup Central Federation) and the NongHyup Foundation, as part of efforts to eradicate alleged misconduct.
On Wednesday (Jan. 22), the government announced that a joint special audit task force—comprising officials from the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, and the Board of Audit and Inspection—has been formed and will begin the audit on Jan. 26.
A total of 41 personnel, including officials from public institutions and external experts, will be deployed for the audit.
The government said the special audit aims to swiftly uncover the facts surrounding allegations of wrongdoing involving NongHyup and plans to release the audit results in March.
