Samsung Electronics' Harman supplies key components to Amazon RoboTaxi

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Harman, which is in charge of Samsung Electronics' electronics business, will supply key components that act as "brains" to RoboTaxi of Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company.

According to the industry on the 12th, Harman has been certified by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to be mounted on the fully autonomous electric vehicle L5 of Amazon RoboTaxi subsidiary 'Zoox'.

Samsung is known to have previously supplied TCU samples to JUX for full autonomous mobility.

TCU, which Harman supplies to Zoox, is the 'brain of a car' that implements a connected car and serves as the basis for the operation of V2X (Vehicle Object Communication), which manages communication outside the vehicle.

Zoox is an autonomous mobility startup founded in California in 2014. Amazon acquired JUX for about $ 1.2 billion (about 1.6 trillion won) in 2020 and is fostering the unmanned robot taxi that the company makes as one of its next-generation businesses.
