[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Samsung Electronics experienced a decline of over 2%, reaching a new 52-week low.

According to the Korea Exchange on October 22, Samsung's shares closed at 57,700 KRW, down 1,300 KRW (2.20%) from the previous day. This marks yet another new 52-week low, following the previous record set on the same day. This is the lowest level since January 3, 2023, when shares were at 55,400 KRW.

Foreign investors continued their selling spree for the 30th consecutive day, offloading 284.9 billion KRW worth of shares, while institutions sold off 153.4 billion KRW. In contrast, individual investors purchased 434.2 billion KRW worth of shares.

While NVIDIA saw a rally of over 4% and reached record highs, Samsung's downward trend persists. The company faces challenges in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and is under scrutiny following an earnings shock in its third-quarter preliminary results. Unusually, the head of the Device Solutions (DS) division publicly apologized for the disappointing results.

As the 4th anniversary of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee's passing approaches on the 25th, and the second anniversary of Chairman Lee Jae-yong's inauguration on the 27th, market attention is on whether he will make any related statements.

Additionally, SK Hynix also closed lower, finishing the day at 87,800 KRW, down 3,100 KRW (1.62%). After opening with a 2% gain, SK Hynix's shares fell back significantly in the afternoon session.
