[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Ecopro faced an operating loss in the first quarter of this year due to the aftermath of the electric vehicle "Chasm" and temporary demand stagnation.

According to the preliminary results announced on the 2nd, EcoPro recorded an operating loss of 298 billion won on a consolidated basis in the first quarter of this year, a turnaround from the operating profit of 1.824 trillion won in the same period last year.

Revenue decreased by 50.6% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 1.206 trillion won.

The net loss stood at 425 billion won, turning into deficit.

This is attributed to the downturn in electric vehicle demand and decreased profitability due to the continued decline in mineral prices since the second half of last year.

In the first quarter, EcoPro BM recorded sales of 970.5 billion won and operating profit of 67 billion won. Compared to the same period last year, sales decreased by 51.7% and operating profit decreased by 93.8%.

EcoPro HN recorded sales of 51.5 billion won and operating profit of 7.3 billion won in the first quarter. Compared to the same period last year, sales decreased by 13.4% and operating profit decreased by 38.7%.
