[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] On the 6th, authorities revealed that a court has once again denied a search warrant request related to the fatal industrial accident at SPC Samlip’s Siwha plant, where a worker was killed after being caught in machinery on May 19.

According to the investigative team, composed of the police, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the prosecution, the Suwon District Court's Ansan Branch rejected the third search warrant request on June 5. The warrant had been filed to secure evidence from the factory where the incident occurred.

This marks the third rejection by the court. The investigative team had initially filed for a warrant immediately after the accident on May 19, but it was dismissed. A second request, filed after addressing the court's earlier concerns, was also rejected at the end of May.

The specific reasons for the rejections have not been disclosed.

In cases of industrial fatalities, search and seizure operations are typically considered essential for determining the cause of the accident, alongside on-site forensic inspections. Other major incidents in the Gyeonggi Province this year, including the tunnel collapse on the Shin Ansan Line, the death of a worker at foodservice company Ourhome, and the bridge deck collapse at the Seoul-Sejong Expressway construction site, all saw search warrants issued within days.

Amid continued warrant rejections, frustration is reportedly growing within the investigation team, which argues that forced investigations such as search and seizure are crucial for uncovering the truth behind the incident.
