[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] In response to some media reports that SK Hynix was pressured by the Yoon Seok-yeol government regarding the merger between Japan's KIOXIA and Western Digital in the U.S., SK Hynix said on the 4th, "It is not true at all."
Last month, some Japanese media reported that South Korean, U.S. and Japanese government officials actively intervened to persuade SK Hynix to agree to the merger of KIOXIA and Western Digital.
SK Hynix can participate in a fund formed by Bain Capital and exercise 'agreement' on whether to merge or not as a shareholder of KIOXIA.
"We have never been pressured or persuaded by the Korean government," SK Hynix said in a press release. "The citation reports are continuing in Korea, so we correct the facts."
