[Alpha Biz= Kim Minyoung] Singer and actress Nana appeared in court on April 21 as a witness in the trial of a man accused of breaking into her home and attempting a robbery, directly confronting the defendant during the proceedings.
Nana attended the third hearing at the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court, where a man in his 30s, identified as A, is standing trial on charges of robbery resulting in injury.
Speaking to reporters ahead of her testimony, Nana said she was nervous and had taken a calming herbal medicine. “I will try to control my emotions and speak truthfully and transparently,” she stated.
When asked about the defendant’s denial of the charges, she responded, “It’s absurd. The fact that I am here today is extremely ironic.”
Although she appeared composed in front of the press, Nana showed visible anger upon confronting the defendant in the courtroom, saying, “Is this amusing to you? Look me straight in the eyes.” After being calmed by the presiding judge, she continued her testimony, noting that it was difficult not to feel emotionally overwhelmed.
Recalling the incident, Nana testified that she instinctively defended herself upon seeing the defendant holding a knife. She added that A pleaded for his life, saying he was sorry during the confrontation.
She further explained that she prioritized calming the situation and instructed her mother to call the police.
Nana also expressed her desire to recover from the trauma as soon as possible.
The defendant is accused of breaking into Nana’s residence in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of November 15 last year, threatening Nana and her mother with a weapon in an attempt to extort money.
During the incident, Nana and her mother managed to subdue the intruder after a physical struggle and reported the case to the police.
While A has admitted to unlawfully entering the residence, he denies that he intended to commit robbery, disputing part of the charges.
