[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, August 21, 2025 – Harman International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics specializing in automotive and audio technologies, today announced the sale of its Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) division to Wipro Limited, a leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company.

Under the agreement, 18 global DTS sites spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia, along with more than 5,600 employees, will transfer to Wipro. According to Reuters, the deal is valued at USD 375 million (KRW 524.8 billion) and is expected to close within the year, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Once completed, DTS will become part of Wipro’s global engineering business unit.

Harman emphasized that the divestiture reflects its strategic decision to strengthen competitiveness in core automotive and audio solutions, while streamlining non-core businesses. The DTS division has historically represented only a minor portion of Harman’s total revenue.

Samsung Electronics acquired Harman in March 2017 for USD 8 billion (KRW 9.4 trillion), marking the largest overseas acquisition in South Korean corporate history. After initial struggles, Harman has since become a strong contributor to Samsung’s earnings, generating KRW 1.3 trillion in operating profit in 2024.

Earlier this year, Harman also announced the acquisition of the consumer audio division of Masimo Corporation for USD 350 million (KRW 500 billion), expanding its luxury audio portfolio, which now includes Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk, and Definitive Technology brands.

“This transaction allows us to sharpen our focus on areas where Harman has clear leadership and strong growth potential—automotive solutions and premium audio,” a Harman spokesperson said.
