Apgujeong District 2 Redevelopment Rendering (Hyundai E&C) |
[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, May 25 — Hyundai Engineering & Construction has secured the construction contract for the highly sought-after Apgujeong District 3 redevelopment project in Seoul’s Gangnam area.
According to industry sources, the contractor was officially selected at a general meeting of union members, where it received overwhelming approval with an 89% vote. The project, with total construction costs exceeding KRW 5.5 trillion, follows Hyundai E&C’s earlier win of the neighboring District 2 redevelopment.
The Apgujeong District 3 project involves redeveloping a large residential complex into a landmark high-rise community of more than 5,000 units, with buildings reaching up to 65 stories near Apgujeong Station.
Hyundai E&C plans to introduce high-end residential features, including autonomous shuttle services and premium community facilities, alongside collaborations with global architectural firms to create a distinctive skyline along the Han River.
The win further strengthens Hyundai E&C’s presence in one of Seoul’s most competitive redevelopment zones, as major builders continue to compete for projects across the Apgujeong area.
