[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] CJ Group has launched an investigation and is preparing to request a formal probe after personal information of its female employees was allegedly leaked and circulated through a Telegram channel.
According to industry sources, the publicly accessible channel contained unauthorized postings of employee data, including photos, phone numbers, job titles, and names. The channel is believed to have been active since 2023 and operated for nearly three years, with approximately 330 individuals affected so far.
Some posts are also reported to have included internal intranet-related information, raising further concerns about corporate data security.
CJ Group stated that it is focusing on the possibility of an internal data leak, rather than an external hacking incident, suggesting that the information may have been accessed through employee profile systems. The company is currently investigating the exact route of the breach.
The company added that it is preparing to report the case to relevant authorities and request an official investigation, while also implementing measures to prevent further damage.
Industry observers warn that the incident could evolve beyond a simple personal data breach, potentially exposing broader vulnerabilities in internal security systems and access control management.
