[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted a raid on December 2 related to a recent accident at Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant, where three researchers died during vehicle performance testing.

Starting at 9 a.m., around 30 personnel from the Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency and the ministry carried out an 11-hour raid on Hyundai's Ulsan factory in Buk-gu and its Namyang Research Center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.

Authorities reportedly secured documents related to the accident from the Electrification Quality Division and safety departments. These included testing data, records on the chamber facilities used for vehicle testing, and safety-related documents.

The police plan to analyze the collected materials to determine the cause of the incident. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has been conducting a special industrial safety inspection at the Ulsan plant since November 29. The inspection aims to assess compliance with safety regulations under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.

The incident occurred on November 19 in the Electrification Quality Division's vehicle testing chamber. The three researchers are suspected to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, likely due to exposure to exhaust gases during a vehicle performance and idling test.

The police and the National Forensic Service conducted a joint on-site investigation the day after the accident and are continuing to examine the exact cause.
